Spurs transfer news: Kieran Trippier leaves future in hands of club but wants to stay in England

Kieran Trippier did not have a great season for Tottenham and the campaign ended in disappointment with a 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the Champions League final.

Sky Sports claims that Napoli is interested in the 28-year-old right-back. Trippier claimed he did not know about his future and wanted to spend time with his family for now (h/t Sky Sports).

The Englishman added that he would discuss his future in pre-season (h/t Sky Sports):

“Obviously this club has been very good for me over the last few years but I’ll enjoy my summer, come back in preseason and that’s when I’ll sit down with the manager and have a talk about my future.

“I see a lot of speculation about me not being here. I give everything, 100 per cent every game, win lose or draw. So we’ll see what happens in preseason.”

The report adds that Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli is evaluating the Englishman but Trippier wants to remain in England.

The right-back has given his all for the club but has struggled for form this season.

The 28-year-old made a number of mistakes in the campaign, however, he is willing to let Spurs decide on his future:

“I want to stay in England. But what can you do? I’ll see what happens and what the club wants, most importantly. I give everything for this club – training sessions, games – so we’ll see what happens in preseason.”

Spurs have Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters as the senior right-backs in the team, but Trippier has been our first-choice for the position this season.

We should only sell Trippier if we have a replacement planned, and it will be an interesting summer for Spurs in terms of transfers.
