Spurs transfer news: Tottenham interested in Turkish defender Ozan Kabak
The Daily Mail (h/t Express) reports that Tottenham are interested in Turkish defender Ozan Kabak.
The 19-year-old centre-back was one of the top performers for Stuttgart last season as the Bundesliga club suffered relegation.
Kabak even played as a defensive midfielder once and scored three goals for Stuttgart last season.
The 19-year-old only joined from Galatasaray in the winter window for £9.9m, and the report claims that Tottenham was on our radar prior to him moving to the Bundesliga.
There is also interest from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal, and the report claims that all three sides are looking to strengthen their defence in the summer.
The report adds that the trio has revived its interest in Kabak after Stuttgart’s relegation from the Bundesliga.
Tottenham need more cover for the centre-backs
Kabak could be another smart young signing for Tottenham’s defence under Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine can count on Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen now, but the pair is ageing and future replacements have to be thought about.
Vertonghen also suffered a few injuries last season while Alderweireld’s future is up in the air (h/t Sun).
Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth are two young defenders who did pretty well last season. However, Foyth is still a little raw and was even tried as a right-back in a few games.

Kabak could increase the competition for places in the defence next season and it will be interesting to see if Stuttgart are willing to sell the youngster in the summer.
