Spurs transfer news: Manchester United look to win race for Bruno Fernandes with a bid
The Express claims that Tottenham and Manchester United are interested in Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
The 24-year-old scored 28 times in three competitions for the club last season and is a part of the Portugal national team right now.
Portuguese outlet Jornal de Noticias (h/t Express) claims that Tottenham are willing to pay £58million to sign the player but Manchester United have bid £67million for the 24-year-old.
United’s bid is split into £48million and £19million in bonuses and the report adds that Tottenham’s bid is a little complex given that we first have to sell Christian Eriksen.
The Dane is in the final year of his contract and has spoken about taking up a new challenge.
United can get a deal done faster
The report adds that United can do a deal faster than Spurs given our need to sell Eriksen.
The Dane helped us reach the Champions League final but we could not get over the finish line as Liverpool beat us.
It will be tough to replace Eriksen, however, Fernandes has proved his ability to score regularly, and the Portugal international can play in several positions too.
