Spurs transfer news: Tottenham ready to bid £40m for Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake
The Sun reports that Tottenham are ready to submit a £40m bid for Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake.
The Dutch centre-back impressed at Bournemouth last season under Eddie Howe and has improved since leaving Chelsea for around £20m, according to the report.
The 24-year-old joined the Cherries initially on loan and now is a part of the Dutch national side.
The report adds that Chelsea want to sign Ake back but their looming transfer ban is a problem.
Further, Tottenham are favourites to sign the Dutch defender, and the report claims that Spurs are keeping track of a couple of other Bournemouth players.
David Brooks impressed for the Cherries this season while Callum Wilson is the other player who is being linked with us.
A quality centre-back needed at Tottenham?
The report adds that Toby Alderweireld’s future is in doubt as Manchester United could trigger his £25m release clause.
Losing the Belgian would be tough on a team that didn’t spend in the previous two transfer windows.
Spurs have Davinson Sanchez to call upon but we still would need one more senior centre-back should Alderweireld leave.
Ake would be a smart signing given that he has the potential to improve and a move to Tottenham would be an upgrade for the player when compared to Bournemouth.
