Spurs transfer news: Tottenham face a battle to convince Ndombele about joining club
The Evening Standard reports that Tottenham face a battle for the signing of Tanguy Ndombele.
The report claims that Spurs have opened talks with Lyon over the midfielder and believe they can reach an agreement.
However, Ndombele is considering a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid or Barcelona, according to the report.
Manchester City are also in the race for his signature and the report claims that Ndombele is not in a hurry to make a decision on his future.
Price for Ndombele will be a problem for Spurs
Ndombele has been one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1 and could be the powerhouse we have been missing for a while.
Harry Winks, Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama have all had injury problems last season while Moussa Sissoko was the one midfielder that was in form for the majority of the campaign.
The report claims that Lyon’s £71m starting price will be a problem for Tottenham. Our record fee spent is £40m (h/t Evening Standard) for Davinson Sanchez and the Colombian has done well since joining from Ajax.
However, Spurs are hopeful that they can convince Ndombele to work under Mauricio Pochettino for a lower price than Lyon’s demand (h/t Evening Standard).
Jean-Micheal Aulas, Lyon’s president, is a tough negotiator but he will be up against another tough nut to crack, Daniel Levy.

The Spurs chairman also tries to get the best deal possible and hopefully, we get Ndombele for a decent price.
