Spurs transfer news: Tottenham ready to break club transfer record for two summer targets

The Mirror reports that Tottenham could break their transfer record as Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso.

However, Spurs will not be held to ransom by other clubs, according to the report, and Daniel Levy will try to get the best deal possible in the summer window.

The report adds that Spurs have already seen a £53m bid rejected for Real Betis’ Lo Celso, while they are confident of landing £71m-rated Ndombele from Lyon.

Both stars enjoyed great seasons for their respective clubs with Lo Celso set for Copa America with Argentine in the summer.

Ndombele is a regular in the France team now, but the report adds that Tottenham will not pay the full asking price for the 22-year-old.

Spurs have already opened talks to sign the midfielder from Lyon, and the report claims that they will not pay the £88.9m release clause in Lo Celso’s contract.

Spurs need to spend big in the summer

Both players are young and have the potential to improve further under Pochettino.

The Argentine manager has a great record of developing talent, and it will be interesting to see which players we sign in the summer window.

Our club record signing is Davinson Sanchez, who we bought from Ajax for £42m in 2017 (h/t Mirror).

Spurs would be smashing that if we are to sign Lo Celso or Ndombele, and the report adds that Pochettino wants to bridge the gap to Manchester City and Liverpool.
