Spurs transfer news: Manchester United interested in signing Giovani Lo Celso

Estadio Deportivo (h/t Daily Star) claims that Manchester United see Giovani Lo Celso as a possible addition to the side.

The Argentine enjoyed a fantastic season with Real Betis as he scored 16 goals in all competitions.

The 23-year-old is with the Argentina national team for this summer’s Copa America tournament, and the report claims that United’s representatives met with Real Betis.

This would come as worrying news to

, who have seen a £53m bid rejected for the midfielder, according to the report.

The 23-year-old has an £88.9m release clause in his contract and only recently completed his move to Betis (h/t Daily Star).

Lo Celso was on loan at the Spanish side from Paris Saint-Germain, and the report claims that Tottenham will make an improved bid for the Argentine.

The report adds that Spurs are ready to break their transfer record for Lo Celso and will also move for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

Betis’ new manager also was open to losing Lo Celso as long as his transfer fee was used to bolster the La Liga side.

Tottenham a better option for Lo Celso

Although United might have more money to spend than us in the window, we are the better option for the 23-year-old.

We have a large South American contingent and Mauricio Pochettino is one of the best in the world.

Spurs also have Champions League football to offer next season while United will be playing in the Europa League.
