Spurs transfer news: Christian Eriksen considers joining Manchester United as Real Madrid deal looks unlikely

The Mirror claims that Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen is considering a move to Premier League rivals Manchester United or Juventus as a move to Real Madrid is unlikely.

The report claims that Eriksen was certain of leaving the London side as he packed up his home before the Champions League final against Liverpool.

The 27-year-old has just one year left on his deal with Tottenham, and the report claims that Daniel Levy wants £100million for the Danish star.

Eriksen wanted a move to Madrid, but the report claims that the deal is off after Eden Hazard’s switch from Chelsea.

The report adds that Zinedine Zidane is next targeting Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, and that leaves Manchester United or Juventus as possible destinations for Eriksen.

Juve recently replaced Max Allegri with Chelsea’s Maurizio Sarri, as they look to continue their domination of the Serie A.

Eriksen also confirmed his desire to try something new and added he was a lot of respect for Tottenham (h/t Mirror):

“I have the wildest and deepest respect for everything that has happened in Tottenham, nor will it be negative. But I have also said that I would like to try something new.”

Spurs cannot sell to a Premier League rival

Losing Eriksen would be a blow as he is one of the most creative players in the Premier League.

However, selling him to United would be a major mistake as we cannot strengthen a rival.

United are in the doldrums as they look to rebuild under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and they don’t have Champions League football as well.

Sending Eriksen to a foreign club would be the best option, and Levy should try to get a great deal for the Dane in the summer window.
