Spurs transfer news: Tottenham chose Jack Clarke over Jarrod Bowen for possible summer deal
The Sun reports that Tottenham are close to landing Leeds United’s teenage winger Jack Clarke.
The 18-year-old scored two goals and provided a couple of assists in the last Championship campaign, and was primarily used as a sub by Marcelo Bielsa.
Leeds missed out on Premier League promotion, but Clarke impressed in several outings and would be a great addition to the Tottenham side.
Football.london’s Alasdair Gold spoke to Leeds Live regarding the possible move for Clarke, and claimed that Tottenham eyed another winger too:
“They’ve been scouting him for a while now and from what I understand Spurs were looking at Jack Clarke and Jarrod Bowen closely in the Championship last season and it was the younger Leeds man who eventually became the sole focus of their attention.”
The journalist added that Clarke could be sent back on loan to the Championship side, but that depends on how much we pay for the 18-year-old.
Bowen would have been a good call too
The Hull City winger was one of the stars in the Championship last time around, as he scored 22 goals and provided four assists for the Tigers. Bowen is older than Clarke by four years and seems ready for the step up to the Premier League.
However, Mauricio Pochettino has a penchant to work with young talents and Clarke seems to be a perfect fit.

It will be interesting to see if Spurs do send Clarke back on loan if he is signed. The Englishman will receive a lot more starts in the Championship than he would by staying at Tottenham.
