Latest Spurs news: Pochettino dreams about managing Real Madrid and Espanyol
Mauricio Pochettino gave a long interview to TV3 in Spain this week and spoke on a range of topics (h/t Football.london).
The Argentine did a great job by leading us to the Champions League final and a
Football.london claims that Real Madrid tried to land Pochettino last summer, but the manager claimed he had given his word to stay at Spurs.
The former Espanyol manager added that he still dreamt of managing Real and his former side too (h/t Football.london):
“I gave my word to renew [my contract] with Tottenham.
“Of course, it is a dream to train a club like Madrid, go to the Argentine team one day or go back to Espanyol one day, but I did not consider at any time anything beyond Tottenham.”
The Argentine is one of the best in the world, and it is great that we still held onto him last season.
Madrid saw Zinedine Zidane returning after the Frenchman left in the summer.
Pochettino wants Spurs to spend
Tottenham haven’t signed a player in over a year, and Pochettino wanted the club to improve.
Last season we struggled with several players picking up injuries, and the Argentine claimed we should now have the money to spend:
“It is essential that this year the team is reinforced. We have saved a lot of money in just two years without signing players and this should allow us to strengthen ourselves.”
