Spurs transfer news: Tim Vickery explains what Lo Celso will bring to Tottenham

South American expert Tim Vickery has spoken about what Tottenham can expect from Giovani Lo Celso, should the Argentine join.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Spurs and the Argentine even scored in the 2-0 win over Venezuela in the Copa America.

The Real Betis midfielder has had a great campaign, scoring 16 goals and providing five assists in all competitions.

Vickery was speaking to Sky Sports News and claimed the Argentine could do a decent job should Christian Eriksen leave (h/t Football.london):

“He’s a very, very talented left-footed playmaker, you can certainly see the reason behind the Tottenham connection, with Christian Eriksen perhaps looking to move on.”

The expert added that Lo Celso would bring more dynamism to Tottenham when compared to Eriksen.

“Lo Celso would bring some of the things that Christian Eriksen brings, with perhaps a little bit more dynamism, maybe not as deadly as the Dane from set-pieces, but more dynamism over the field. .He had a terrific season for Real Betis.”

Tottenham have to pay big for Lo Celso

Vickery believed that Lo Celso and Mauricio Pochettino could do well, as they come from the same region.

However, he warned that Spurs have to stump up a huge amount. Betis would want to make a profit on the 23-year-old, but Vickery backed the move suggesting Lo Celso would be a great fit for Tottenham.

The Argentine isn’t the only player Spurs are interested in. Tanguy Ndombele (h/t Guardian) and Jack Clarke (h/t Sun) have also been linked heavily with a move to Spurs.

Spurs haven’t signed any players in close to 18 months, but that seems set to change in the coming days.
