Spurs transfer news: Dharmesh Sheth claims Tottenham are interested in completing Giovani Lo Celso deal

Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth believes Tottenham are looking to complete a third deal in the summer.

The Express claims that Spurs are close to landing Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke, but Sheth claimed that Giovani Lo Celso also interests Spurs.

The 23-year-old is with the Argentina team for the Copa America and had a wonderful season with Real Betis.

The central attacking midfielder recently scored for the national side in their 2-0 win over Venezuela, as Argentina prepare for the knockout stage of the Copa America.

Sheth told the Transfer Talk Podcast that the problem with the deal is Lo Celso’s asking price (h/t Express):

“I actually spoke to someone involved in this deal and I was told that Tottenham are still very much interested in Lo Celso.

“The price though, as with everything when you speak about Tottenham, remains the huge obstacle.

“His release clause is £88m.

“It’s unlikely Real Betis are going to get £88m and it’s thought they could actually deal as low as £60m.”

Tottenham might have to raise funds to complete Lo Celso deal

Sheth went on to say that Spurs would try to bring down the asking price for Lo Celso, but they might have to sell before they can buy.

The Sky Sports reporter believed Christian Eriksen could be the player to leave:

“With regards to Christian Eriksen, it seems to have gone a little bit quiet on that front of late.

“But you’d have to think that this one is going to have to come to a head soon.”

Lo Celso scored 16 goals and provided five assists in all competitions for Betis last season. The 23-year-old can take up the Eriksen role and is comfortable playing out wide too.

The Argentine could be a smart addition to the side, and it will be interesting to see how things develop with Lo Celso in the coming days.
