Tottenham have been dealt a blow in their chase of Joachim Andersen, according to Corriere Dello Sport (h/t Calciomercato).

The report claims that the Danish defender is closing in on a move to Ligue 1 giants Lyon.

There was interest in Andersen from Spurs, and the report claims that Arsenal and AC Milan are also keen on the 23-year-old centre-back.

The report claims that Lyon are willing to bid €20m for the 23-year-old, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up in the summer.

Andersen was one of the top performers for Sampdoria last season and made 34 appearances in all competitions.

Spurs have four first-team centre-backs, but we were stretched a little at the back due to injuries last season.

Toby Alderweireld is out of a contract at the end of the next campaign, while Juan Foyth is still a little raw.

Spurs looking to wrap up deals

Andersen could have been a smart and cheap deal, but it seems Lyon have stolen a march on us.

Spurs are still pressing on for a couple of deals with Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke of Leeds United close to joining the club.
