Spurs transfer news: Tottenham interested in signing Donny van de Beek but Real Madrid lead chase
Spanish outlet AS (h/t Football.london) claims that Tottenham are one of the eight clubs interested in Ajax star Donny van de Beek.
The 22-year-old was one of the stars for Ajax last season as they reached the Champions League semi-finals.
Tottenham got a close look at the Dutch international in the Champions League semifinals, and Van de Beek also scored the winner in the first leg of the tie.
The youngster scored 9 times and provided 10 assists in the Eredivisie last season, and helped Ajax win the title.
The report claims that Manchester United are also interested in the 22-year-old, but La Liga giants Real Madrid are leading the chase for Van de Beek.
Van de Beek is open to Premier League switch
Dutch expert Marcel van der Kraan had claimed that the Ajax star is open to a Premier League switch.
Speaking to talkSport (h/t Football.london), the Dutch expert added that Tottenham is a target for the 22-year-old:
“Van de Beek has his eyes set on the Premier League. He is a Premier League type player with an Ajax education and can play in many positions in midfield.
“He wants a move to Manchester United or Spurs and his agent says if that materialises that would be right up his street.”
Van de Beek would be an excellent signing for Spurs, and he would add a lot of quality to our midfield.

Spurs have already bolstered the middle of the park with Tanguy Ndombele, and it will be interesting to see if we have lined up moves for other midfielders too.
