Spurs transfer news: Mills claims Digne could replace Rose at Tottenham
Former Manchester City star Danny Mills believes Lucas Digne could replace Danny Rose at Tottenham.
The Spurs left-back has been linked with a move away, with Ryan Sessegnon a target for Mauricio Pochettino (h/t Sun).
Rose also claimed that Spurs sell players when they reach a certain age, after joining the England team for the Nations League finals.
Football.london adds that Spurs are in the market for new full-backs, and the future of Kieran Trippier is up in the air too. The right-back struggled for form last season but was our first-choice throughout the campaign.
The BBC pundit was speaking to Football Insider, and claimed that the 25-year-old Everton star could replace Rose (h/t Football.london):
“There is talk of Lucas Digne going to Tottenham to replace Danny Rose if he leaves.
“There could be something in that, and it’s one to keep an eye on as a late window deal.”
An upgrade on Rose?
Digne had a great season with the Toffees as he racked up four goals and four assists. The Frenchman made his move to Goodison Park from Barcelona and helped them to a decent campaign.
Digne was one of the better left-backs in the Premier League last season, however, Rose did a decent job for Spurs too.
The 29-year-old provided three assists in the Premier League and performed well in the Champions League final.
The French defender has the edge on Rose in terms of age and final output, however, it would be a risky signing given that he only has had one season in the Premier League.

It will also be interesting to see if Everton are willing to sell one of their stars, as they look to build under Marco Silva.
