Spurs transfer news: Tottenham could offer Fernando Llorente reduced terms next season
The Telegraph reports that Fernando Llorente has not returned to Tottenham after his £100,000-a-week contract ended.
The 34-year-old hasn’t returned for pre-season training and his contract expired in June. However, the report claims that Spurs could still offer him reduced terms next season.
The former Juventus striker wants a return to Spain, however, should he not get the right offer, Spurs could provide him with a new deal (h/t Telegraph).
The forward scored some important goals for us last season, such as the one against Manchester City in the Champions League.
The Spaniard also turned the complexion of the match against Ajax in the Champions League semi-final second leg even though he did not score. Tottenham haven’t bought a striker in the summer, and we need some cover for Harry Kane.
The Englishman suffered a couple of ankle injuries in the previous campaign, and we need to have an option on the bench too.
Llorente gives us a Plan B
The 34-year-old isn’t the most mobile striker but he gives us a physical presence whenever he is on the pitch.
Llorente is great in the air and we can switch things up if needed. Signing him next season on reduced terms would be a smart move by the club.

He might not be the greatest finisher but he could be a cheaper option than buying another striker in the transfer window.
