Latest Spurs news: Serge Aurier picks up wrist injury without featuring for Ivory Coast
The Daily Mail reports that Serge Aurier picked up a wrist injury in Ivory Coast’s win over Mali.
The right-back suffered the freak injury without even featuring for the African giants. The report claims that the 26-year-old banged his fist on a table during half-time.
Aurier struggled for fitness in the previous campaign for Tottenham and featured in eight Premier League games. The 26-year-old was not even playing for the Africans and spoke about the anger in the team as they weren’t playing well (h/t Daily Mail):
“We got a little heated, because in the game we were not good. I hit the table and there you go.
“At home, when things go wrong, the parents scream at us. It’s the same thing. We had to have no regrets.”
The report adds that the Ivorian should be fit for the quarter-final clash against Algeria.
Aurier needs to stay fit for the season
The 26-year-old needs to have a quality pre-season and he needs to stay fit for that to happen.
Last season, we had to start Kieran Trippier in most of the games due to Aurier’s fitness concerns. That cannot be the situation in the upcoming campaign, especially with the English defender struggling for form.

The Ivorian hasn’t put in great performances for Spurs since joining from PSG, and it will be interesting to see how things develop with Aurier after the Africa Cup of Nations.
