Latest Spurs news: Kane believes Tottenham can challenge for Premier League title

Tottenham striker Harry Kane believes Spurs have a strong enough squad to challenge for the Premier League.

Spurs struggled compared to Liverpool and Manchester City last season in the Premier League, but still finished in the top four and reached the Champions League final.

That final ended in a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Reds, but Kane believes the misses from last season will only spur the team further (h/t Sky Sports):

“I think it just motivates you to get better. With the Champions League final, you want to play in those games all the time.

“We know it’s going to be tough to get back there this year and it’s down to us to perform.”

Spurs have been busy in the summer signing Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke.

The English winger has been sent back on loan to Leeds, and Kane was asked if the club can challenge for the title.

The striker was certain Spurs would put up a good fight and said:

“That’s always the aim. The manager has full trust in the squad. Whoever he gets in or gets rid of, that’s his choice; he’s the boss.

“Whatever happens from now until the end of the window, we know we’ve got a strong enough squad to compete. The top six is really tight so we just want to put a good run together.”

Spurs need to keep their players fit

Although we don’t have as deep a squad as Manchester City, we could have done with most of our players staying healthy for the majority of the season.

Almost every senior player picked up an injury in the previous campaign, and that affected our performances.

Spurs have a great first XI but need some depth in the team, and hopefully, we have a few more signings waiting in the wings before the window ends.
