Spurs transfer news: Castles claims Tottenham have made contact over Alves signing
Duncan Castles claims that Tottenham
The Brazilian right-back is a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain and has won several trophies at Barcelona and Juventus.
The 36-year-old has a ton of experience playing for some of Europe’s biggest clubs and Castles told the Transfer Window podcast that Barcelona is an option for Alves (h/t Daily Star):
“So [Barcelona is] one option for him, but as far as I understand he doesn’t have a formal contract offer from Barcelona yet.”
Castles added that several Italian clubs are interested in Alves and the right-back could play in Brazil too.
However, Castles believed that Alves wants to stay in Europe and has a desire of playing in the Premier League.
The transfer expert claimed that Tottenham are interested in him and are willing to change how things work at the club:
“And I understand that there’s been contact with Tottenham Hotspur about the possibility of Dani moving there in what would seem quite a strange addition for Tottenham, given that this is a club that’s focused on younger players, players whose value will increase, players they can get on reasonably cheap salaries.
“But bear in mind that Tottenham are looking to change things because of Mauricio Pochettino, for his demands to take the club to another level.”
Spurs have already spent big to sign Tanguy Ndombele in the summer, and have also sent Jack Clarke on loan after completing a move for the English youngster.
Spurs could sell a couple of defenders
Castles added that Tottenham
Alves is certainly an experienced head and would not cost a transfer fee, but he might demand high wages.
