Spurs transfer news: Tottenham outbid Arsenal for Saint-Etienne defender Saliba

RMC Sport’s Mohamed Bouhafsi has claimed that Tottenham have outbid Arsenal for Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba.

The journalist claimed that Spurs have offered €30m without any bonuses for the young French defender, and this is beyond what the Ligue 1 club is looking for.

St. Etienne will meet with Tottenham to discuss the deal, and it could be an interesting summer ahead for Spurs and the Gunners, according to the journalist.

Arsenal have struggled to add players under Unai Emery, and the fact that there is no Champions League football next season will be a problem when attracting players.

Tottenham are in a great position at the moment and have already secured the services of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon.

Jack Clarke is another player to have signed for us this season, but the English youngster has been sent back on loan to Leeds United.

A star for the future

Saliba did a decent job as a centre-back for the Ligue 1 club last season and is comfortable playing as a right-back too.

The 18-year-old could be a star for the future, and it will be interesting to see which club he joins in the summer.

Tottenham could do with a versatile and young defender, especially with Toby Alderweireld out of a contract at the end of next season.
