Latest Spurs news: Pochettino hopes for Eriksen stay despite interest
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino remains hopeful of keeping Christian Eriksen at the club next season.
The Dane spoke about taking up a new challenge at the end of the previous campaign, and Football.london reports that Real Madrid
Eriksen is out of a contract at the end of next season, and the report adds that there hasn’t been any move regarding the Dane’s future.
Real Madrid have been busy in the summer, landing Eden Hazard, and Marca (h/t Football.london) claims that Zinedine Zidane is more interested in signing Paul Pogba.
Pochettino was present at this weekend’s British Grand Prix and was asked if Eriksen would stay at the club.
The Argentine admitted there was a lot of interest in the Dane, but was hopeful of him staying (h/t Football.london):
“I hope he is. I think he is a great player, Christian. One of the biggest talents in football.
“After five years working with him, I am sure in the way that he plays, and I hope yes.
“But you know, there is a lot of interest. I hope yes, but I don’t know what is going to happen with that.”
Keeping Eriksen would be great for Spurs but it’s risky
The Dane staying at the club for another season would be great, especially after we signed Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon.
A midfield trio of Eriksen, Ndombele and Harry Winks would be fantastic under Pochettino, but Spurs run the risk of losing him for free at the end of next season.
Hopefully, we can convince the Dane to remain at the club for a while, since he is one of the best in the world.

If not, Daniel Levy should try to get the most from his sale.
