Spurs transfer news: Petrachi confirms Alderweireld interest and doesn’t want to sell Zaniolo
AS Roma’s chief Gianluca Petrachi has put a dampener on Tottenham’s plans in the summer.
Spurs have been linked with Italian sensation Nicolo Zaniolo, and Calciomercato had reported earlier that the attacker was open to leaving Roma in the summer.
The 20-year-old is one of the best talents in the Serie A and was in action for Italy during the recent U21 Euros.
Petrachi was speaking during a presentation and confirmed that he doesn’t want to sell Zaniolo (h/t Calciomercato):
“I told Zaniolo to gain back his concentration. I did not place him on the transfer market, it is normal for me to have direct contacts with my players.”
Alderweireld also in the plans for Roma
Toby Alderweireld is out of a contract at the end of next season, and the Belgian was also brought up by Petrachi during the presentation.
The AS Roma chief confirmed interest in the 30-year-old and there have been talks regarding a move:
“Alderweireld? I know that he has a release clause, let’s see.
“Baldini?
Yes he has a good understanding with the Spurs so he can surely help us get Alderweireld. We would surely like to sign him and there have been talks about this.”
This news would come as a double blow to Spurs, who would be looking to wrap up more deals after signing Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke.
Zaniolo would be a great addition to the team while Alderweireld is still one of the best in the Premier League.

Losing the Belgian with just a few weeks before the season starts would be a problem, especially if we cannot get a decent replacement in the window.
