Latest Spurs news: Billionaire Todd Boehly considers bid for Tottenham
American billionaire Todd Boehly is considering bids for Tottenham and Chelsea, according to the Evening Standard. Boehly owns a part of the MLB franchise, the LA Dodgers, and is supported by his private investment firm Eldridge Industries.
The report adds that the billionaire is interested in investing in the Premier League, with Spurs being the favourites.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich values his club at £2.5bn (h/t Evening Standard) and figures are that Tottenham could be worth more, thanks to the world-class new stadium and their run to the Champions League final.
Boehly has a private market valuation of around $6billion (h/t Evening Standard), and the American studied at the London School of Economics.
Spurs deny any talks regarding the bid
A spokesman of the American declined to comment when contacted by the Evening Standard, and Spurs confirmed that no offer was made.
The report adds that Spurs are not in talks with any parties while Chelsea also denied that they are up for sale. Tottenham have been on the rise in recent years and it is interesting to note that investors are looking to bid for the club.
Daniel Levy, Tottenham’s chairman, has been in charge for several years and we have been stable under his leadership.
However, we need to have bigger pockets if we are to challenge for the top sides, and adding a minority partner could help us gain some additional funds.
