Latest Spurs news: Tottenham handed extra foreign player slot for Champions League campaign
Football.london reports that Tottenham have been handed an extra slot for a foreign player in the upcoming Champions League campaign.
Spurs faced major selection issues last season when Juan Foyth had to be left out of the squad before getting a place after February.
Mousa Dembele’s sale allowed the Argentine to feature in the Champions League, but that is set to change next season.
The report claims that the Argentine will feature in the club’s B list since Foyth joined Spurs in 2017 and was born on 12 January 1998.
Spurs also have picked up two slots in the A list after the departures of Michel Vorm and Fernando Llorente, though Tanguy Ndombele will take up one of those positions.
The report adds that players who are 16 can be registered on the B list if they have been registered with the club for two years without any interruptions, and there is no criterion of the player being homegrown.
Tottenham face one problem in the A list
Tottenham lost one homegrown player, with Kieran Trippier joining Atletico Madrid, and the A list must contain eight locally trained players. However, four of those spots can be taken up by association-trained players.

Spurs would need to fill up the gap left by Trippier ahead of the season, and the player who could take up that role is Ryan Sessegnon (h/t Football.london).
