Latest Spurs news: Pochettino apologises to Manchester United after 2-1 loss for Tottenham

Tottenham could not get the better of Manchester United in Shanghai as they lost 2-1.

Lucas Moura scored the only goal of the game for Spurs in the pre-season friendly, with Tanguy Ndombele getting his first start for the club.

The goals for United were scored by Anthony Martial and Angel Gomes. Harry Kane could not replicate his magic from a few days back when he scored against Juventus.

The England captain was partnered by young striker Troy Parrott, but we could not get a second goal in the game.

There were some tough challenges in the pre-season game, with one incident not going down well with the United players.

Moussa Sissoko appeared to stamp on United’s Daniel James, but no action was taken on the Frenchman regarding this.

Dele Alli also put up some tough challenges in the game, and Mauricio Pochettino ended up apologising to United in the post-match press conference (h/t Football.london):

“Yes it’s true I was a little bit annoyed about some situations. Of course when you are so hot and sometimes you arrive late and something can happen.

“I apologise on behalf of our players to Man Utd. It’s not intention and sometimes when you arrive late these things can happen.”

Spurs need to be in shape for Premier League opener

Spurs don’t have many games left in their pre-season tour, with clashes against Real Madrid and Inter Milan waiting.

Our first game of the season is against Aston Villa and hopefully, we have the right kind of aggression on the pitch to land us a trophy.
