Spurs transfer news: Zidane’s stubbornness could keep Eriksen at Tottenham

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (h/t Sun) claims that Real Madrid will not move for Christian Eriksen.

The Dane is out of a contract at the end of next season and had spoken about taking up a new challenge after the Champions League final.

The 27-year-old named Madrid as one of the clubs where he could play (h/t Guardian), however, Los Galacticos are stuck on Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman struggled at the Red Devils last season and the report claims that Zinedine Zidane is adamant that he wants the former Juventus midfielder at Madrid.

The Real Madrid manager does not want any other player apart from Pogba, and the La Liga giants will not move for Donny van de Beek of Ajax too (h/t Sun).

Eriksen can still leave on a free

The Dane is one of the most creative players in the world and at 27, he has some quality years left in him.

Keeping Eriksen at the club is a bit of a bonus for us but we could lose him for nothing next summer.

It is imperative that we get the 27-year-old to sign a new contract with Tottenham and not lose him for free.

The Dane helped us reach the Champions League final last season, and hopefully, a trophy or two this time can convince him to stay with Spurs.
