Spurs transfer news: Parker wants to keep hold of Sessegnon at Fulham
Tottenham have been dealt a blow in their hopes of landing Ryan Sessegnon.
The Englishman has been linked with a move to Tottenham (h/t Sun) and Mauricio Pochettino also wants to sign the 19-year-old.
The versatile youngster can play as a winger or left-back and is one of the best talents in the English game.
Sessegnon was one of the reasons why Fulham reached the Premier League last season, but they suffered relegation at the end of the campaign.
Scott Parker, the current manager of Fulham, spoke about Sessegnon having a minor problem and believed he would remain at Craven Cottage next season (h/t Sun):
“He’s rehabbing back to a point where he can feature.
“We’ll try everything we can [to keep him]. We’ll see what will happen from there but at this present time, with 10 days [of the transfer window] to go, he’s a Fulham player and we fully expect him to rehab back from his injury and play a big part.”
Sessegnon would be excellent at Tottenham
The Englishman would be a great signing for Spurs, given Pochettino’s ability to work well with young talent.
It is surprising to hear Parker claim that Sessegnon will stay next season. The 19-year-old is out of a contract at the end of the campaign and could move on a free.
Selling him to a club in this summer window would ensure Fulham get a decent amount for a quality player, and it will be interesting to see how things develop in the coming days.
