Latest Spurs news: Kane’s strike leads to win over Real Madrid

Tottenham continued their great pre-season with a win over Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Audi Cup.

The only goal of the game was scored by Harry Kane, and the Englishman seems to be in decent shape ahead of the new season.

The Englishman also scored a wonderful goal against Juventus in a recent win, and we face Bayern Munich in the final of the tournament.

Tottenham started with a strong team as Kane was joined by Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-min in the line-up.

Erik Lamela also got a start, with Dele Alli coming on later in the game. The Argentine winger looked great at the start and needs to stay fit after an injury-plagued season last time around.

Alli too has had his injury problems, and the Englishman struggled for form in the previous campaign.

Surprise in the defence

Spurs were up against a strong Madrid team which featured Eden Hazard, Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Luca Modric.

However, our defence featured Juan Foyth and Danny Rose as the full-backs.

Rose was left out of our pre-season Asia tour but is back in the side after failing to secure an exit.

Foyth played as the right-back in some games last season, and this could be a sign that he would be used in this position more in the upcoming campaign.

Spurs made several chances later on in the game, with Hugo Lloris also getting some playing time.

The Frenchman missed out on the games in the Asia tour due to tonsillitis, while youngsters such as Oliver Skipp, Troy Parrott and Anthony Georgiou also got some minutes.

Mauricio Pochettino seems to have got his team in the groove, and it will be interesting to see how we do once the season begins.

Our first game of the campaign is against Aston Villa at the new stadium and we should be the favourites to get three points.
