Latest Spurs news: Kane feels fresh after summer break

Harry Kane feels fresh after a long time, thanks to a muchneeded summer break.

The English striker had a busy summer last season as he led the Three Lions to the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Kane and several Tottenham stars returned to the club without too much rest and the gruelling league campaign took him over.

The England captain looks sharp after getting a break this summer and scored the winner against Real Madrid in the Audi Cup.

Kane also scored an incredible goal from the half-way line against Juventus, and the forward acknowledged how important this break has been for him (h/t Evening Standard):

“It’s been nice, it’s been tough.

“Compared to last year, when we had just five days before playing against Newcastle, it’s a totally different situation. It’s helped me.”

The forward added that he was hopeful of taking advantage of how fresh he was feeling, with Tottenham having a couple of pre-season games left:

“I had a nice off-season, got married, relaxed and chilled out. I’ve come back ready to go, as the whole team has, and I feel sharp. There are still a couple more pre-season games but I’m going into the season as fresh as I have been for a long while and hopefully I can take advantage of that.”

Spurs need Kane to stay fit

The 25-year-old is possibly the best striker in the world and could have won another Golden Boot last season.

Unfortunately, he picked up two serious ankle injuries, and Tottenham need the forward to remain fit for the majority of the season.

Spurs have allowed Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente to leave the club in the summer, and that leaves just Kane as the recognised senior striker in the team.

Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura played the number 9 role last campaign, and it will be interesting to see if we sign another forward in the summer.
