Latest Spurs news: Foyth picks up ankle injury during Audi Cup win over Bayern Munich
Tottenham lifted the Audi Cup crown after defeating Bayern Munich on penalties but there was some concern about Juan Foyth.
The Argentine defender injured his ankle during the second half and had to leave the pitch on a stretcher.
The 21-year-old went down holding his ankle and Mauricio Pochettino was concerned regarding his fellow Argentine (h/t BBC):
“I need to talk with the doctor.
“He twisted his ankle but at the moment I cannot give an update. He said his ankle was very painful.”
Tottenham dealt a major blow ahead of the campaign
The youngster played put up some great performances for the club last season and even filled in as a right-back in certain games. Spurs are a little light in that position after selling Kieran Trippier in the summer, and Serge Aurier has had his injury problems.
The Argentine will be suspended for the first two Premier League games of the season, which means Kyle Walker-Peters should start the season as the first-choice right-back.
Losing Foyth could be a problem for Spurs and hopefully, he isn’t out for too long. Tottenham have only bought Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke this season, and cannot do with injuries to first-teamers.
Many Spurs fans were also concerned about Foyth’s injury and wanted the club to sign a right-back soon.
