Spurs transfer news: Tottenham send representative in hopes of landing Fernandes

Portuguese outlet RTP (h/t Sun) claims that Tottenham have sent a representative to Lisbon to directly negotiate with Sporting Lisbon for Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese international had a great season with Sporting in the previous campaign, and Manchester United have been linked with the 24-year-old midfielder (h/t Sun).

The £70million-rated midfielder has been linked with the Red Devils for a while but the club have been unable to finalise a transfer fee (h/t Sun).

Fernandes bagged 32 goals and provided 18 assists in all competitions for Sporting last season, and even helped the national side win the UEFA Nations League in the summer.

The midfielder has been involved in Sporting’s pre-season games and has looked impressive for the team.

The report adds that United are still interested in the services of the 24-year-old but have not made a concrete offer to Lisbon.

Tottenham need to make one more big signing

anguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke were signed early in the transfer window but things have been very quiet in terms of incomings at Spurs ever since.

We have sold Kieran Trippier and Vincent Janssen in recent weeks but could do with more attacking options for the upcoming season.

Fernandes can play in several positions and should do well in an attack-minded team like ours.

The 24-year-old could play behind Harry Kane and provide competition to the likes of Lucas Moura and Dele Alli.

Fernandes can also play as the lead striker, which would be handy in case Kane needs a rest.
