Spurs transfer news: Spurs set to lose Van de Beek race to Real Madrid

De Telegraaf (h/t Sun) reports that Tottenham are set to lose out on Ajax’s Donny van de Beek.

The 22-year-old was one of the stars for the Dutch side last season. The midfielder scored some important goals for the team and helped them to the league title.

Van de Beek also scored in the semi-final first leg of the Champions League against Spurs but saw their European journey come to an end thanks to Lucas Moura.

The report claims that Real will only move for the 22-year-old, should they fail to land Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman had an average season last time around, and it will be interesting to see what Madrid’s plans are in the summer.

Christian Eriksen has also been linked with a move to Madrid (h/t Sun) and the Belgian is out of a contract at the end of the next season.

Spurs could do with a goal threat from midfield

Tottenham have already signed Tanguy Ndombele in the summer, and the Frenchman should make the midfield stronger.

However, we could do with more goals from the midfield and Van de Beek fits that requirement.

The 22-year-old will grow further if he is under the right manager, and Zinedine Zidane has spent big already this summer on the likes of Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic.

Spurs have just a week to complete any pending transfers and hopefully, we can bring in a couple of players to make this a fantastic window.
