Spurs transfer news: Mendes could increase Fernandes’ valuation ahead of summer sale

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Bruno Fernandes in the summer and have also bid for the 24-year-old (h/t Football.london).

The Sporting Lisbon star scored 20 goals and provided 13 assists in the league and was a part of Portugal’s victorious Nations League campaign too.

The 24-year-old has featured in most of Lisbon’s pre-season games in the summer, but reports (h/t Football.london) claim that his brother-in-law, Miguel Pinho, is using super-agent Jorge Mendes to try and complete a deal.

Mendes could hike Fernandes’ price

The agent is known to have made some big deals, especially with Manchester United, and the report claims that Pinho is hopeful of Mendes securing a transfer in the summer.

There could be more interest in Fernandes, with Italian and Spanish clubs also coming into the race. The price for the Portugal star could reach £70m as a result (h/t Football.london).

More competition for Fernandes would not be good news for Tottenham, and Sporting would be able to sell to the highest bidder.

The 24-year-old would be a quality addition under Mauricio Pochettino and it will be interesting to see how things play out with Mendes in the picture.

Tottenham have already spent big once in the transfer window by signing Tanguy Ndombele.
