Latest Spurs news: Tottenham increase stadium capacity ahead of new season
Tottenham confirmed an increase in the stadium capacity ahead of the 2019-20 season.
The release (h/t Evening Standard) claims that Spurs assessed the seating arrangements at the new stadium and were able to increase the capacity by 152 seats.
The new capacity of our home is 62,214, with Haringey Council approving the increase. The seats will be added to the north and south stands, according to the Evening Standard.
Spurs yet to play in front of maximum capacity
Tottenham shifted into the new stadium during the latter stage of the previous season and have played seven games there.
Our move was expected to take place in September last year but there were several delays which affected the opening of the ground.
However, the club is yet to play a game in front of a full stadium. The highest attendance for a game has been 60,243, which was when the capacity was set to 62,062 at the new stadium during a Champions League game (h/t Evening Standard).
It is unlikely that Spurs will be able to fill the stadium due to factors such as the placement of TV cameras and segregation of fans, despite selling all the tickets available for games.
