Latest Spurs news: Pochettino drops hint on right-back solution this season
Tottenham
Kieran Trippier was sold by Spurs this summer to Atletico Madrid, and we have not bought anyone to replace the Englishman.
Kyle Walker-Peters started for us against Aston Villa, and the only other fit right-back we have is Serge Aurier. The Ivorian spent a lot of time injured last season, and there is more bad news for Spurs.
Juan Foyth is also out for a while with ankle ligament damage, and the Argentine played in that position last season.
Mauricio Pochettino was asked about the problems regarding the right-back position during his press conference.
The Argentine hinted that someone could also play in that position but he wanted to find the best solution (h/t Football.london):
“You know me, I am so brave, we can create players who can play in different positions. We try to find the best solution and I love the challenge to try and create that dynamic.”
Chance to cement the right-back spot
Trippier was the first-choice right-back last season and it will be interesting to see who takes over his spot this season. Walker-Peters needs to impress in the position, however, Aurier is more experienced.
