Spurs transfer news: Eriksen to sit down with Tottenham in hopes of keeping star midfielder

The Independent claims that Tottenham and Christian Eriksen will sit down for discussions before the end of the European transfer window.

The Dane is out of a contract at the end of the season and had spoken about joining Real Madrid this summer.

The report claims that the discussions between Eriksen and the club would revolve around the Dane’s stay at Spurs.

Madrid are uninterested in signing the Dane, with Paul Pogba their main target, while Juventus and Atletico Madrid were linked with the 27-year-old (h/t Independent).

The Dane was offered to Manchester United in the summer but the report claims that Eriksen was uninterested in joining a Premier League rival without Champions League football.

Spurs could decide to sell Eriksen if a new contract cannot be agreed on as they would lose him for free at the end of the season (h/t Independent).

The Dane didn’t start in our 3-1 win over Aston Villa at the weekend, however, he came off the bench and was the catalyst as we defeated the newly-promoted side.

Tottenham face a dilemma regarding Eriksen

Eriksen is one of the best in the Premier League and losing him would be a big blow. Spurs have signed Giovani Lo Celso on loan this summer, but the Argentine needs time before we see his best in a Tottenham shirt.

Selling Eriksen now will guarantee us a decent transfer sum, however, keeping him until the end of the campaign could lead us to more titles.

The problem with that situation sees Eriksen leave for nothing in the summer, and losing a player in his prime on a free transfer would be a major transfer error.
