Latest Spurs news: Tottenham could hand six players new deals this season
Tottenham were one of the winners in the summer transfer window after they nabbed Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon on deadline day. Tanguy Ndombele was the biggest signing of the summer for Spurs while Jack Clarke is a player for the future.
There was another business done in the summer as the club extended Lucas Moura’s stay by making the Brazilian sign a new deal.
Football.london reports that Spurs have a habit of tying down their stars to new deals, and they listed out six players who could follow Moura in extending their stay.
Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are free agents at the end of the season, and the report claims that Spurs could offer new terms to Vertonghen.
Eriksen could remain at Tottenham if they offer him a new deal but he has been linked with a move away (h/t Football.london).
Eric Dier has two years left on his deal and the report claims that Spurs could decide to cash in on the midfielder or keep him in London by offering a new deal.
Moussa Sissoko was the star of the previous campaign and Football.london adds that the Frenchman deserves a new deal at the club. The final name on the list is Juan Foyth and the Argentine could be rewarded with a new deal which would keep him beyond 2022.
Spurs need to keep the core of the team
Keeping hold of the squad is important and hopefully, we can ensure that most of our stars remain for the coming years.
Sissoko, Foyth, Eriksen, Alderweireld and Vertonghen have all been great at various points during their Spurs career, while Dier has been unfortunate with injuries.
