Spurs transfer news: Llorente unlikely to sign with Tottenham in the summer
Fernando Llorente is unlikely to re-join Tottenham in the summer, according to the Evening Standard.
The Spaniard was released by Spurs at the end of last season when his £100,000-a-week contract expired, but the club offered the 34-year-old a one-year deal on reduced terms (h/t Evening Standard).
Llorente didn’t score many goals for the club last season but some of his performances were vital in our Champions League journey. The former Swansea man scored against Manchester City in the quarter-final away leg. Llorente was also the catalyst in our come-back win over Ajax in the semi-final second leg.
The report adds that Tottenham haven’t heard from the Spaniard in weeks, and Mauricio Pochettino is happy with his forward options at the moment.
Harry Kane is fit for Spurs after having a proper summer break, while Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura can play as a forward. Troy Parrott also had some minutes in pre-season, and it will be interesting to see if the youngster features in our first-team plans.
Llorente off to Italy?
The former Swansea striker spent time in Italy with Juventus but is open to a return to Spain, according to the report.
There is a lot of interest in the 34-year-old from Italian clubs, with Napoli, Roma, Lazio and Fiorentina keen on the former Athletic Bilbao star (h/t Evening Standard).

Llorente could have been handy on the bench since Kane doesn’t have a great injury record. However, Mauricio Pochettino must have a plan to provide enough support for Englishman this season.
