Latest Spurs news: Lo Celso called-up for Argentina squad but Lamela omitted
Tottenham’s summer signing Giovani Lo Celso got a few minutes in the 2-2 draw against Manchester City and has been called up for the Argentina national team squad.
The former Real Betis and PSG midfielder featured for the side in their Copa America journey during the summer, and it will be interesting to see if he starts for us in our next game.
The 23-year-old is one of the most talented players from South America but needs time to adjust to the league after joining Tottenham on deadline day.
Although Lo Celso has done well in the past season, there was one surprise omission from the call-up list.
Where is Coco?
Erik Lamela has been one of the bright spots for Spurs this season and had two important moments in the draw against the Cityzens. The Argentine caught Ederson out of position for our first equaliser and it was his delivery that Lucas Moura turned into the net in the second half.
Lamela struggled for fitness in the previous campaign, but he could be an important player for us this season.
Tottenham didn’t sign any wingers in the summer and if Lamela stays fit, we should see more magic from the Argentine.
Many Tottenham fans were pleased for Lo Celso but were surprised at Lamela’s exclusion.
