Spurs transfer news: Tottenham could move for Dybala in the January window
Football.london’s Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold took part in a long
Gold spoke on several topics ranging from the contract situation of Christian Eriksen to Tottenham’s failed move for Paulo Dybala.
Football.london reports that Spurs were close to landing the Juventus star for €70million but the deal collapsed on transfer deadline day as the Italians were unable to land Romelu Lukaku.
Another factor that was brought up in the failed transfer was problems regarding Dybala’s image rights (h/t Football.london).
However, the deal could be revisited in the January window should Dybala remain at Juventus.
Gold claimed that Neymar’s move could have an effect on the Argentine’s future but Spurs weren’t out of it yet (h/t Football.london):
“They haven’t made a move for Dybala yet but what happens with Neymar over the next 10 days or so is going to shake up the transfer market a lot.
“It will spark those who didn’t buy him into action to look for their own star signings and of course PSG will have to replace the Brazilian.
“If the window closes and Dybala is still at Juventus then Spurs would be right to think they still have a chance to sign him in January.”
Dybala is one of the best players in the Serie A, but had a poor season last time around, with just five goals in the competition.
Spurs have time to fix the issues
Gold highlighted that a deal was done between the parties but they needed time to fix the issues regarding the transfer.
The Spurs correspondent added that four months would give them time to iron out these problems, and Gold claimed he would not rule out a move for the Argentine in the winter window.
Tottenham made some smart signings in the summer and we are yet to see Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso start for their new club.

Dybala could be a smart addition to the side, however, we cannot overpay for the Argentine’s services even if he wants to leave Turin.
