Spurs transfer news: Edwards close to joining Udinese
Football.london reports that Marcus Edwards’ future at Tottenham is all over, with the youngster set to join Udinese.
The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam but could not save
It has been a frustrating couple of years for Edwards due to injuries and poor performances away on loan.
The report adds that the Englishman was training at Brentford last month in hopes of signing for the Championship club, but could not finalise a deal. The 20-year-old is a free agent at the end of this season and seems set for a new challenge in the Serie A.
Pochettino had high expectations from Edwards
The youngster made a bright debut for the Spurs first-team in a League Cup game against Gillingham at White Hart Lane.
However, injuries affected his first season at Tottenham, where he could not play more games.
The report adds that Mauricio Pochettino had compared the youngster’s traits with Lionel Messi’s, and the manager later regretted making those comments.
Edwards had the potential to be special and hopefully, he reignites his career at his new club.
