Latest Spurs news: Pochettino highlights rebuilding of the side after moves in summer
Tottenham were one of the most active teams in the summer transfer window.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side signed four players in this transfer window, and have sold several players too.
Fernando Llorente, Michel Vorm, Kieran Trippier and Vincent Janssen are some of the stars who have left.
Pochettino was speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Football.london) and claimed that he wanted to improve the side but that it would be difficult this season after reaching the Champions League final last season.
The manager added that the aim is to improve all the time, and it did not depend on the incomings and outgoings from the club (Football.london):
“That is our objective. Our vision to achieve it is that we can improve the same players who are here but also add to the quality with the young players who are coming in.
“We love that challenge. We love to try to be better every season and we are working hard on that. We are settling the team, trying to find the best dynamic in the group.
“It is a natural evolution and we are looking to find that balance. This season looks like it will be the one where we will start the regeneration of the squad. This is a new cycle.”
Pochettino excited at the prospect of working with new players
Tottenham finally made signings this summer after going 18 months without any new players, and Pochettino admitted it was exciting to work with them.
The manager added that the signings of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon would help the team regenerate but said that players coming through the club will also help in the process.
