Latest Spurs news: Alli expected to make Premier League return against Arsenal
The Telegraph reports that Tottenham expect Dele Alli to be fit for the North London derby against Arsenal at the weekend.
The English midfielder hasn’t featured for us this season due to a hamstring injury he picked up in pre-season.
The 23-year-old has struggled with hamstring problems over the years and missed a chunk of the previous campaign with a similar issue.
The report claims that Mauricio Pochettino was taking a cautious approach to Alli’s return and the 23-year-old midfielder returned to training earlier in the week.
Tottenham need Alli back
Spurs are coming off a shock 1-0 loss at home to Newcastle United and the lack of clear-cut chances was a problem in the game.
Our attack barely broke down the Magpies defence and we missed someone like Alli in behind Harry Kane.
The derby against Arsenal is one of the biggest games in our fixture list and putting Alli in the starting XI might be a bit of a risk given his lack of first-team minutes this season.
The Englishman struggled last season as he only managed to score five goals in the Premier League. Alli is also expected to be called up for next month’s Euro 2020 qualifiers by Gareth Southgate, according to the report.
Pochettino needs to get the team going again and the Gunners will not be easy opposition.
Unai Emery’s side did well against Liverpool for 40 minutes before allowing three goals.

Their attack is good and Nicolas Pepe needs to be handled with care by our defence which has made a few mistakes this season.
