Spurs transfer news: Bologna were interested in Tottenham’s Wanyama

Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama is close to sealing an exit from the Premier League, according to the Daily Mail.

The Kenyan has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham due to the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele in the summer, and his injury record hasn’t been great either.

Wanyama has been linked with a move to Club Brugge, but the Daily Mail adds that Bologna were also interested in the 28-year-old.

The report claims that there was interest from several other clubs, however, Spurs didn’t want the midfielder to leave on a loan deal.

Things going downhill for Wanyama

Wanyama has struggled for fitness over the past two seasons and it makes sense to offload him now rather than keep him with his wages.

The Kenya international has barely played for us over the past two seasons but made a great impact after joining from Southampton.

Mauricio Pochettino has sold several unwanted players this summer, with the likes of Vincent Janssen and Kieran Trippier leaving the club.

Michel Vorm and Fernando Llorente left for free, and we made four summer signings too.

Things didn’t pan out too well for Spurs at the weekend as we lost to Newcastle United 1-0 at home.

It won’t get any easier next weekend, with Tottenham travelling to the Emirates for the derby against Arsenal.
