Latest Spurs news: Some fans want Llorente to return this season
Fernando Llorente didn’t score too many goals for Tottenham but he did help us reach the Champions League final last season.
The 34-year-old was allowed to leave after his contract ended at Tottenham, but the Evening Standard reported that Spurs had offered Llorente a deal to re-sign him this summer.
The free agent is yet to finalise his next club, but his presence was something that we missed in the 1-0 loss to Newcastle.
Tottenham don’t have a plan B
After going behind to the Magpies, Tottenham decided to pump balls into the box, but there wasn’t a large presence for the players to aim at. Harry Kane doesn’t have any cover after we sold Vincent Janssen in the summer, and Troy Parrott is yet to feature in the first-team for us regularly.
Tottenham cannot make any signings until the winter window, but they can move for free agents. Llorente could be a decent option given that he knows the Premier League well, and has been a decent member of the Tottenham squad.
The Spaniard isn’t someone who will turn defences with his pace, but his aerial prowess gave us a plan B to deploy when things weren’t going our way.
Many Tottenham fans highlighted that Llorente was missed against the Magpies while some wanted the club to re-sign the Spaniard.
