Latest Spurs news: Moura believes Tottenham can work hard to beat Arsenal this weekend
Tottenham’s Premier League start hasn’t been great this season after the 1-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle.
The surprise defeat has put us five points behind leaders Liverpool after just three games, and our task doesn’t get easier at the weekend.
Spurs play Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday, and the Gunners are coming off a tough 3-1 defeat at Liverpool.
Lucas Moura couldn’t help us get the better of Newcastle at the weekend, but the Brazilian claimed the North London derby was the perfect game for Tottenham and said that we would return with three points (h/t Evening Standard):
“Is this the perfect game for us to have after the Newcastle defeat? Yes. We need to look forward now. There are a lot of hard games to come.
“We lost against Newcastle but I am sure we have the quality to go to Arsenal and come back with three points. That’s what we must try to do.”
Moura rues missed chance
Tottenham did have a couple of penalty shouts which, surprisingly, weren’t given even with the use of VAR.
However, Moura also had a glorious chance in the second half but blazed over the bar. The Brazilian spoke about Newcastle’s dogged defence and how it was difficult to find space in the game:
“It was difficult to find the space in the air and the ground because everyone was in the box. I missed a very clear opportunity and I am upset about this. We need to get back to work this week and win the next game against Arsenal.”
Tottenham should find more space against the Gunners as the pairing of David Luiz and Sokratis are prone to making mistakes.
However, Arsenal have a great attack and we need to be wary of the threat possessed by our London rivals.
