Spurs transfer news: Pochettino claims Eriksen leaving now will be difficult

Christian Eriksen was one of our best players in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Sunday.

The Dane opened the scoring in a helter-skelter match before Harry Kane made it 2-0. Arsenal, however, fought back to level things up as both sides left with a point.

Eriksen has been linked with a move away in the summer, and his contract is up at the end of the season (h/t Mirror).

Mauricio Pochettino spoke to the press after the game and claimed it would be difficult for the Dane to leave this transfer window (h/t Mirror):

“I want to say it is going to be impossible, but it is going to be difficult [for him to leave].

“I think nothing is impossible in football, but the most important thing is that it is only 24 hours and I hope that everything will be clear for everyone.”

Pochettino happy with transfer window closing

The Premier League’s transfer window closed before the start of the season, but that put us in a difficult position as European clubs were able to move for our players.

Pochettino was happy that the window is closing and claimed it would help the players concentrate on Tottenham and the job at hand:

“Tomorrow they’re only going to be focused on Tottenham , not on thinking about different things that make management so difficult.”

Keeping hold of the Dane would be great for the remainder of the season but we need him to sign a new contract with the club.

Eriksen can still leave for free at the end of this season, and that would be a major blow to the club.
