Spurs transfer news: Madrid set to sign Tottenham target Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes might get a move this summer after all, as ESPN (h/t Daily Star) claims that Real Madrid will sign the midfielder before the transfer deadline.

The Sporting Lisbon star has been linked with moves to Tottenham and Manchester United this summer (h/t Daily Star), but cannot join the clubs as the Premier League transfer window is closed.

Fernandes scored 30+ goals for Sporting last season and helped Portugal win the inaugural UEFA Nations League trophy too.

The 24-year-old recently claimed that Tottenham had made several offers for him but Sporting didn’t allow the Portuguese star to leave.

Real spending more after a poor start to the season?

Madrid have spent big this summer, landing Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic amongst other names.

However, their performances haven’t been great as they trail Atletico Madrid by four points after just three league games this season.

Tottenham could have done with Fernandes joining the side but we opted to sign Giovani Lo Celso instead.

The Argentine hasn’t started a game for us so far this season and came off the bench in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

Spurs can sign players in the winter window and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for a few of our stars.
