Latest Spurs news: Trippier didn’t get a straight answer regarding his future in the summer

One of the shock transfers of this summer has to be Kieran Trippier joining Atletico Madrid.

The English right-back struggled in the previous campaign at Tottenham and joined the La Liga giants a few weeks into the transfer window.

The defender has seen his career at Atletico start well, with the team winning all their La Liga games so far this season.

The Englishman claimed that he didn’t get straight answers regarding his future from either Mauricio Pochettino or Daniel Levy.

The Sun quoted the 28-year-old as saying:

“I spoke to the manager about his plans and I didn’t get a ‘yes’ and I didn’t get a ‘no’ — so you get the impression.

“The manager didn’t say he wanted to move me on and I tried to speak to the chairman about it.

“It’s not nice when you know the club want to sell you.”:

Trippier added that he wanted to remain at the club and had always tried to give his best for the team.

The defender added that he didn’t leave the club on bad terms but claimed that he didn’t get an answer from Levy too.

“Me and the manager didn’t leave on bad terms, he has done a lot for me and I respect him highly.

“It is just a few things — I tried to speak to the chairman, I just didn’t really get an answer.”

Trippier did struggle for us and maybe going to a new club was the right move for the player.

The Englishman has looked great at Atletico so far, but it is a little upsetting that he didn’t get a straight answer despite giving it his all for the club.

Trippier has also been recalled by Gareth Southgate for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers and hopefully, he keeps performing at the top level for a few more years.
