Latest Spurs news: Eriksen doesn’t believe it was wrong to declare a willingness to leave Spurs
Christian Eriksen remained at Tottenham despite being linked with a move all summer (h/t Football.london).
The 27-year-old has just a year left on his current deal and has been one of our best players this season so far.
Eriksen scored the opener in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the weekend, and told Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet that he was frustrated about being out of control regarding his future (h/t Football.london):
“I wish I could decide just like in Football Manager, but unfortunately I can’t.”
The Dane had stated after the Champions League final that he wanted a move away from the club, and Eriksen was asked if it was a wrong move:
“No, it wasn’t. But it is football and you never know what happens in football. Many things always come into play. To me it is not difficult to clear my head.
“I don’t read much of what is written. And now I have been involved for many years, where there have been many rumours every year. But it’s clear that it’s been a little more violent this year because my contract is about to expire.”
The Dane added that there will always be rumours for a player who has done well.
Interesting months ahead for Eriksen and Spurs
Eriksen staying at the club is a bit of a boost as he can concentrate on football for a few months.
However, Tottenham have some big decisions to make regarding the Dane’s future.
The 27-year-old can leave for free at the end of the season while we can sell him in January for a decent sum.

The best option would be to extend his deal as he is one of the best in the Premier League.
